Black beans in brownies… Yep, you read that right. This remake of the average brownie was in an attempt use up all my leftover ingredients – in this case, black beans – from other recipes in an unusual way. And holy cow are they gooey and decadent. So gooey in fact, I had to refrigerated them for about 10 minutes just so I could get them out of the baking dish.
Did I mention they are insanely simple, too? You just throw all the ingredients in a food processor, blend, add chocolate chips, and bake for 15 minutes or so. I think it took longer for my oven to preheat than it did for me to make these.
The key is to blend your ingredients really well. Don’t rush it. You want the batter to be silky smooth, because no one wants to see a rogue black bean when they take a bite of brownie. Additionally, flawless brownies will only surprise your guests more when you reveal the unusual ingredient.
Top with some vanilla ice cream – like our favorite, Halo Top’s vanilla bean – and enjoy!
