Bonbons and the holidays go hand-in-hand, and this year, I’m sending some extra love to Southern Living for their oh-so-decadent Peppermint Bonbon Cookies.
They do require a little time and patience, but are worth every minute. I decided to whip up a batch when I was working from home and, while no part of the recipe is particularly difficult, I highly recommend taking these on when you know you’ll be home for about 2 and a half hours. On the bright side, the recipe yields about 2 and a half dozen, so the result is worth the wait!
I also skipped part of the recipe that calls for topping the cookies with a powdered sugar and milk mixture (too sweet for my taste) and opted for melted white chocolate instead. The beauty of these bonbons are that you really could mix it up however you choose. I think next time I’ll be adding pecans to my batter for a little extra crunch.
