At Fridge to Fork, we LOVE football! Not only do we love rooting for our Dawgs, we may love tailgating food even more! From cheese straws to sliders to boiled peanuts, there’s always something to love. Tailgating brings about a sense of community that spans all generations. It’s hard to beat that familiar feeling of setting up at the stadium on game day or cheering on your team in your living room from thousands of miles away.
My fiancé and I (it’s me – Mary Parker) recently got a Traeger grill. If you are not familiar with the Traeger then check out how they work here. They’re electric smokers that are super functional and easy to use (even for the beginner)!
Last weekend we fired it up to make these savory jalapeño poppers. We took them as an appetizer for a tailgate party we were attending that afternoon.
I chose to seed the jalapeños since I was serving this dish to a crowd, but if you’re assured that your guests like it hot, leave the seeds and veins to kick things up a notch!
These cute poppers can be made ahead of time – preferably the morning of. Just grill in the AM and keep warm, covered with aluminum foil until you get to the party. If you want to serve them fresh off the grill, you can always assemble them the day before the party and refrigerate until it’s time to grill.
You can check out the original recipe here – Traeger Bacon Poppers Recipe. I modified their original recipe by using pimento cheese instead of cheddar cheese to add a bit more flavor.
I hope you’ll enjoy this easy tailgating recipe. If you make it, be sure to tag us on instagram @fridgetofork, and let us know how they’re received in the comments below. Enjoy! And Go Dawgs!
